Science

9,146 science schools are in the United States. These schools offer science certificates and degrees at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. A program in science prepares students for careers as scientists. Students will study subjects such as chemistry, physics, biology, and engineering.

Overview

There are currently 9,146 US institutions offering science. 6,354 institutions offer bachelor's level science degrees and 3,275 institutions offer degrees at the graduate level in science.

Typically, a bachelor's level science degree requires 4 to 5 years of coursework and depending on the institution, may be a Bachelor of Science degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree, or a Bachelor of Applied Studies degree. While about 10% of students pursue degrees at the doctoral level, approximately 15% of science students at the undergraduate level pursue degrees at the masters level. Students can pursue graduate level science degrees such as Master of Wildlife Science degrees, Master of Geographic Information Systems degrees, and Master of Materials Science and Engineering degrees. Students may study related subjects such as psychology and sociology.
