Forestry
There are 91 forestry schools in the United States. These schools offer forestry certificates and degrees at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. A forestry program prepares students for careers as foresters. Forestry students will study subjects such as chemistry, ecology, and biology.
Overview
There are currently 91 US institutions offering forestry. 40 institutions offer degrees at the bachelor's level in forestry and 30 institutions offer graduate level degrees in forestry.
A bachelor's level degree in forestry generally requires 4 to 5 years of coursework. 81 out of 601 students pursue degrees at the doctoral level, while about half of the forestry students at the undergraduate level pursue masters level degrees. Students can seek graduate level forestry degrees such as Master of Forest Biomaterials degrees and Master of Science degrees. Students may study related subjects such as carpentry and HVAC.
Forestry Program Completions 2006 - 2010
1,170 students graduate from forestry programs, on average, each year. Of those, 24 students graduated with forestry certificates, 86 with an associate's level degree, 601 with a bachelor's level degree, 310 with a master's level degree, and 81 with a degree at the doctorate level.
