New Dedicated Server

by Roschler and Batboy

As you are probably aware of, Open-Site has moved to a new server on June 18, 2004. The move was required because the previous server was non-responsive and slow. The new server was donated by Roschler and the company he is associated with: Android Technologies.

The server is a Dual 2.4GHz Intel Xeon processor box with 160 GB of disk
space and 1 Gigabyte of RAM, running Red Hat Linux Enterprise version 9. In
other words, it is running two of Intel's top level processors that are
specifically optimized for server operations, in a coprocessor environment.

It's basically the top level dedicated server unit that is used by many web
hosting resellers to run their entire hosting businesses. In other words,
to host hundreds of other people's web sites.

Instead, the box is dedicated to running The Open Site Encyclopedia project
and nothing else.

The only thing we need now is about a 1000 more editors (at least) to keep
the server from getting bored. :)

Special thanks to Mjflick, other roots, and coders who assisted in the move and debugging of the programs and content.
