Double Fault

The term used to identify the failure of the server to place one of the two allowed serves into play.

Doubles Play

The term used when there are two players to a side. In doubles play, the outer line of the alley is utilized as the boundary.

Drop Shot

A swing that causes the arc of the ball to just clear the net and drop in the opponents forecourt with low velocity.

Deep Lob

A swing of the tennis racket that causes the ball to land in the backcourt of the opponent. The trajectory of the ball is hit with high altitude to allow the player time to gain an advantageous position for the next swing.

Deuce

The score in the game when both players are tied at forty or three points each.
