Backhand

The swing that is accomplished by starting the motion on the other side of the body. For a right-hander, the swing is started on the left side of the body. For a left-hander, the swing is started on the right side of the body.

The swing that causes the ball to spin in a reverse rotation. The spin is accomplished by under slicing the ball with the racket.

Baseline

The line that determines the back boundary of the legal area of the tennis court.

Backcourt

The area on the tennis court that is located between the service line and the baseline.

Break

The loss of game when the player is serving. Also known as a service break.

Back Swing

The portion of the swing that involves bringing the racket backwards.
