The Western martial arts stem from European cultures, such as the Germanic, Celtic, and Greco Roman. Often over looked in favor of the eastern styles, Western martial arts have a deep history and can be just as diverse. Some disciplines include Boxing, Greco Roman Wrestling, Classical Fencing, Pankration, Savate, and Stav.

Introduction to Savate

Savate, also known as French Kickboxing, can trace its roots back to the 18th century. The sport aspect of Savate is a form of Kickboxing that pre-dates the current sport. While the self defense aspect combines many of the Western Martial Arts such a boxing, grappling, weaponry, as well as its unique forms of kicking.

Introduction to Stav

Stav is a martial art and a religion. It's been described by many as the nothern european version of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, or Yoga. Stav means knowledge of rune staves. The system is designed to train the mind, body and spirit. The most common aspects are the martial and healing arts.

Introduction to Pankration

Pankration is a Greek martial art that earliest records date back to about 600 BC. It is believed that it is the father of both Boxing and Wrestling. In the old days, combatants would enter the stadium naked and fight until one is unconcious or gives up. Today, Pankration is going through a revival and is trying to enter the Olympics. Although I'm sure everyone will be clothed and the rules are a watered down Mix Martial Art event.
