On July 20, 1973, in a Hong Kong apartment, Bruce Lee dropped dead. He had just finished what may be his most famous movie, featuring Chuck Norris, "Enter the Dragon," and was currently working on another movie, "Game of Death," which still opened in 1979. At that time, Bruce Lee was considered by many to be the most "in shape" person, but the official report said that he died of brain swelling due to an allergic reaction to asprin. Many friends of the actor think that his exhausting workout schedules were responsible for his demise. Yet others think that a rival master gave him what Chinese lore calls the "touch of death." Whatever the reason for his death, his moves and movies will live on in the hearts of many martial arts enthusiasts.

Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco on the 27th of November in 1940. His birth name was Siu Lung. Early in his life, he and his parents moved to Hong Kong, where Lee grew up. While acting small parts in numerous films as a child, he became very street-wise, and even belonged to a gang. For this reason, he took Kung Fu as a means of self-defense. He hated the social structure of Honk Kong society, where, in his words, ""The white kids [British] have all the best jobs and the rest of us had to work for them. That's why most of the kids became punks. Life in Hong Kong is so bad. Kids in slums can never get out." After trying to incorporate his own technique into Kung Fu class, Lee was expelled. He moved to America when offered a starring role in a Hollywood film. His parents objected, but Bruce went to America to finish high school in Edison, Washington. He went to the University of Washington as a philosophy major, and married Linda Emery in 1964. After the wedding, Lee opened three Jeet Kun Do (Bruce Lee's martial art) schools- Los Angeles, Oakland, and Seattle.
