Washinkai is a traditional, Japanese, registered style of karate and is recognised by the Japan Karate Federation. It is epitomised by fast, evasive movements and is a Wado ryu based martial art containing the control techniques of Hironori Ohtsuka’s Shinto Yoshin ryu jujutsu and Aikido such as locks, throws, sweeps, vital point strikes & floor work as well as the usual blocks, kicks and strikes of karate. Washinkai karate contains over 30 Kata from Goju ryu, Shito ryu, Shotokan and Wado ryu. The seven aspects of technical perfection of a Washinkai karate-ka are: Speed, Power, Timing, Distance, Awareness, Focus & Technique. The seven aspects of character perfection of a Washinkai karate-ka are Humility, Respect, Equanimity, Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility & Courtesy.
