The Atlanta Knights (later Quebec Rafales [rafales being French for "winds"]) were an International Hockey League (IHL) franchise from 1992-93 through 1996-97. The team moved for the 1996-97 IHL season due to the impending arrival of an Atlanta National Hockey League (NHL) franchise the Atlanta Thrashers and the loss of the The Omni arena.
The team drew relatively well in Quebec City playing in Le Colisee after the NHL Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado. However, the owners did not realize the expected profit and folded the team after only one season in Quebec.
While the Atlanta Knights the franchise won the 1994 Turner Cup. The Knights were the first professional team to play a female goalie, Manon Rheaume.
