The Amarillo Wranglers were the Central Hockey League (CHL) farm team for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Penguins tried to make a go of things in Amarillo in 1968-69 but shut down after the season. Amarillo came back to the CHL for the 1970-71 season but again closed up shop at seasons end due to poor attendance.
