Rule 701 - Prevention of Infections

(a) A player who is bleeding or is covered by blood of an opponent player shall be considered an "injured player" and must immediately leave the ice surface for treatment or cleaning .

(b) Such player shall be permitted to return to the ice surface, provided that:

- the cut is completely closed and sealed with appropriate bandages and

- any blood on the player is removed, and if on clothing or equipment these are cleaned or replaced.

(c) No blood stained objects shall be used on the ice surface.

(d) If a player does not comply with the above regulations, the Referee shall stop the game and instruct the player to comply with the above procedures, and the player shall be assessed a Minor Penalty for "Delay of Game".

(e) If the ice or ice rink facilities are blood stained, the Referee shall ensure that the blood stains are removed by rink personnel immediately after the first stoppage of play.
