Note 1: There shall be no advertising and/or brand identification on sticks, tape or any equipment without the written permission of (a) the IIHF as regards IIHF Championships or (b) the national associations as regards the use of such equipment under its control.
Advertising and/or brand identification may be placed on sticks, tape and/or equipment provided specifications are approved and permission given as specified above.
Note 2: Measurement of equipment. When a formal complaint is made by the Captain of a team against a specific dimension of any equipment, the Referee shall make the necessary measurement immediately, except that no measurement shall be allowed during the stoppage of play following a goal being scored.
Note 3: When any player or goalkeeper refuses to surrender or destroys his stick or any part of his equipment for measurement when requested by the Referee, this stick or equipment shall be regarded as illegal and a Minor plus a Misconduct Penalty shall be assessed that player or goalkeeper.
A Minor Penalty shall be imposed on any player including the goalkeeper guilty of using or wearing illegal equipment or stick. The guilty player or goalkeeper shall not be permitted to participate in the game until the illegal equipment or stick has been corrected or removed.
Note 4: If the complaint is not sustained a Bench Minor Penalty shall be imposed on the team requesting the measurement.
Note 5: A request for measurement of any specific dimension of equipment covered by this section shall be limited to one request by each team during the course of any stoppage of play
Note 6: The Referee may, at his own discretion, measure any equipment.

(a) The sticks shall be made of wood or other material approved by the IIHF such as aluminium or plastic and must not have any projections. The shaft of a player's stick must be straight.
Adhesive non-fluorescent tape of any colour may be wrapped around the stick at any place.
(b) No stick shall exceed 163 cm. in length, from the heel to the end of the shaft, nor more than 32 cm. from the heel to the end of the blade.
The shaft of the player's stick shall not exceed 3 cm. in width nor 2.5 cm. in thickness.
The blade of the stick shall not be more than 7.5 cm. and less than 5 cm. in width at any point.
All edges of the blade shall be bevelled.
The curvature of the blade of the stick shall be restricted in such a way that the distance of a perpendicular line measured from a straight line drawn from any point at the heel to the end of the blade to the point of maximum curvature shall not exceed 1.5 cm.
The same measurements of the curvature of the blade of a player's stick shall also apply to a goalkeeper's stick.
(c) The blade of the goalkeeper's stick shall not exceed 9 cm. in width at any point, except at the heel where it must not exceed 11.5 cm. in width, nor shall the goalkeeper's stick exceed 39 cm. in length from the hole to the end of the blade.
The widened portion of the goalkeeper's stick extending up the shaft from the blade shall not extend more than 71 cm. from the heel and shall not exceed 9 cm. in width.
(d) A player who participates in the play while taking a replacement stick to his goalkeeper shall incur a Minor Penalty under this rule.

(a) All players and goalkeepers must wear ice hockey skates when participating in the game. The skate must have a safety heel or heel guard that meets international standards.
(b) Where a player is wearing a skate/s that is dangerous, he is to be removed from the game and if that player re-enters the game wearing such skate/s, the Referee shall assess a Minor Penalty to the offending player.
(c) The use of speed skates or fancy skates or any skate so designed that it may cause injury is prohibited.

(a) With the exception of skates and stick, all the equipment worn by the goalkeeper must be constructed solely for the purpose of protection of head or body, and must not include any garment or contrivance which would give the goalkeeper undue assistance in keeping goal.
Note: Abdominal aprons, extending down the front of the thighs on the outside of the pants are prohibited.
(b) The leg guards worn by goalkeepers shall not exceed 30 cm. in extreme width when on the leg of the goalkeeper.
(c) The maximum width of the protective padding attached to the back or forming part of a blocking glove shall not exceed 21 cm. and the length 42 cm. The maximum width of any part of the wrist area of the catching glove shall not exceed 21 cm. and the total length of the catching glove shall not exceed 42 cm.
Cages on catching gloves are prohibited. A "cage" shall mean any lacing or webbing or other material in the goalkeeper's catching glove joining the thumb and the index finger that is in excess of the minimum necessary to fill the gap when the goalkeeper's thumb and index finger in the glove are fully extended and spread and includes any pocket or pouch effect produced by excess lacing or webbing or other material between the thumb and index finger when fully extended.
Where any other pocket, pouch or contrivance has been added to a glove by a manufacturer or other person, such glove is illegal. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to use such a glove and is not permitted to participate in the game until such illegal equipment has been corrected or removed. A Minor Penalty shall be imposed on a goalkeeper using such equipment.
Goalkeepers are not permitted to use or have an apron or plate attached to the bottom of the goal pads covering the space between the ice and the bottom of the pads in front of the skates.
A Minor Penalty shall be imposed on the goalkeeper wearing such equipment and the goalkeeper shall not be permitted to participate in the game until the illegal equipment has been corrected or removed.
Note: Measuring of goalkeeper's equipment may be requested only immediately at the end of any period. If the equipment is found to be illegal, a Minor Penalty shall be imposed on the goalkeeper. If the complaint is not sustained a Bench Minor Penalty shall be imposed on the team requesting the measurement.

Note: It is the responsibility of the National Associations to ensure that their players wear protective equipment specified by the manufacturer as ice hockey equipment and that meets international approved standards.
(a) All protective equipment, except gloves, head protection or goalkeeper's leg guards, must be worn ENTIRELY under the uniform.
(b) All players must wear a hockey helmet that meets approved international standards, with the chin-strap properly fastened during the game.
The helmet shall be worn so that the lower edge of the helmet is not more than one finger width above the eye brows. There should be room for the insertion of only one finger between the strap and the chin.
(c)
1. Players in the category under 18 years and younger must wear a full face-mask in all IIHF competitions.
2. All players born after December 31, 1974 must wear as a minimum a visor that meets approved international standards.
The visor shall extend to cover the lower edge of the nose.
3. Full face-masks shall be worn in the IIHF Women's Championships and in Women's international games.
Note:
1. Full face-mask or goalkeeper's face-head protectors must be constructed in such a way that neither the puck nor a stick blade might get through it.
2. All hockey helmets and visors must meet approved international standards.
(d) All goalkeepers must wear a full face-mask and an approved hockey helmet, or a goalkeeper's full face-head protector that conforms to approved international standards
(e) All players and goalkeepers in the category 18 years and younger must wear a neck and throat protector.
It is recommended that all players wear a neck and throat protector.
(f) For a violation of sections (b-e) where a player is wearing non-approved equipment, (helmet, facial protection, neck guard), the player will be ruled off of the ice and a warning will be issued by the Referee to the offending team.
For a second violation by any player of the same team for the same offence during the same game, the Referee shall assess a Bench Minor Penalty to the offending team.

The puck shall be made of vulcanised rubber or other approved material, 2.54 cm. thick and 7.62 cm. in diameter, and be primarily black in colour. The puck shall weigh not less than 156 gms. nor more than 170 gms.
