World Cup Cricket

This tournament is the world-championship of one-day cricket and it is held quadrennially. The first World Cup was held in 1975 in England.
The nations that play in the World Cup are:
All 10 test nations - Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe
All other countries with ODI (one-day international) status - currently Kenya
Qualifiers from the ICC Trophy, the 'World Cup for minor countries' - The 3 qualifiers for 2003 are: Netherlands, Namibia and Canada.

8 World Cups have been held till now. Australia leads the tally having won 3 times followed by West Indies which won the first two.
In the last World Cup which was held in South Africa in 2003 Australia emerged winners with India as the Runners-up.
The next World Cup is to be hosted by West Indies.
