Franchise History

In 1900, the St. Paul Saints, a Western League team, moved to Chicago and established itself as the Chicago White Stockings. After becoming one of the original teams of newly founded American League in 1901, the team changed its name to the White Sox. In their inaugural game on April 22, 1901, the Chicago White Sox defeated Cleveland by a score of 8-2.
