A myth is a type of story of a previous period of time that involves some form of superhuman. Myths were often believed by preliterate societies who relied upon spoken word.

Most myths relate to customs or traditions in culture or the creation of natural phenomena, such as the sun and the stars. Mythology is the study of myths or the collective grouping of myths from a single culture.
