Sacred sexuality can be interpreted in many ways. Generally it is recognised as a fusion of sexuality with spirituality. When something is sacred to us, we treat it carefully, with reverence and respect. In sacred sexuality the body and our sexual energies may be considered divine. Here people may find liberation, peace, power, confidence and love. By recognising sexuality as sacred, people tend to put more effort into their relationships, creativity and love making (therefore improving their sex life).
"In sacred sexuality, the word 'sacred' means our sexual energy is precious, a treasure to be held dear. Sexual energy is the generative, creative force of the universe. Considering it sacred means to simply live, without restraining or suppressing natural tendencies. It means being authentic, living fully to your own senses, while honouring other people’s views. Sacred sexuality also means practicing spiritual sexual methods for the restoration of youthfulness, optimum health, happiness and an expression of an overall affirmation of life. Exploring sexual energies between men and women can become a sacred and spiritual practice." [1]
