Evolution : Islamic View

Some islamic scholars claim that belief in evolution and speciation by macro-evolution is compatible with Islam and can be inferred directly from Quran. According to them, only belief in a totally "random" evolution which does not accept an intervention of a super natural intelligence (i.e. God) is incompatible with Islam. They lean their claims on a Quranic verse: "Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?" 21/30

On the other hand, most of the islamic scholars do not accept any kind of "evolution" at all. They reject the theory and the claims that it is supported by Quran and give the Quranic verses describing the creation of Adam from "clay" as a supporting argument for their position: "He it is Who created you from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is with Him another determined term; yet ye doubt within yourselves!" 6/2

Most well-known islamic creationist on this side of the debate is a Turkish scholar known as Harun Yahya. He executes a fierce fight against the theory of evolution in a global manner. He operates dozens of web sites prepared in several languages and publishes books against the theory in many countries. He even distributed one of his luxury publishings titled as "Atlas of Creation" freely in Franse.
