[ history ]

Overview

Political assassinations are so common worldwide that personal security for world leaders is crucial. As far as assassinations go America has had EIGHT attempts, four of which tragically successful whilst Britain have only ever had one successful assassination, going by the name of Spencer Perceval in 1812. One of the most famous military assassinations of all time was that of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Princess Sophie von Hohenberg. This shooting started the First World War in 1914 and the event itself has its own tagline so to speak, which goes," It took two bullets to kill 9 million men."
One of the more recent assassinations was that of former Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin and of the President of the troubled and much disputed region of Chechnya, Akhmad Kadyrov. The death of Kadyrov was by bomb explosion so its status as an assassination is up for debate, but, he is included as he is one the most recent to die by unnatural death.
