Urban living is the lifestyle choice of living in a city or town, as opposed to rural living. The lifestyle of urban living can include living within a central business district, usually in an apartment, or living outside the central business districts in suburbs, known as suburban living.
Cities and towns are areas that have heavy residential, commercial and industrial development, and so most properties are smaller than those in rural areas. However, urban living is usually more convenient as city residents have more access to businesses to purchase goods and services.
Most subcultures have developed through social interactions among people who are living urban lifestyles. Rap and hip-hop musical styles have developed primarily from urban areas, and therefore music in these styles is known as urban music.
Commerce and trade are important parts of the urban lifestyle, as farming is in rural areas. Most people who live in urban areas are employed in the secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy, concerned with producing goods and providing services.
