Description

The United Nations (UN) is an international organization formed on October 24, 1945 as a successor to the League of Nations.
There were initially 51 countries when the UN began.
There are currently 191 countries in the organization.
The UN primary concern is the security and peace of the world.

1) Secretariat
established: 26 June 1945; effective - 24 October 1945.
aim: to serve as the primary administrative organ of the UN; a Secretary General is appointed for a five-year term by the General Assembly on the recommendation of the Security Council.
