[ history ]

Capacitors are a class of electric circuit elements used to store charges temporarily, consisting in general of two metallic plates separated and insulated from each other by a dielectric or vaccum. The are quite similar to Condensers which is an instrument for concentrating electricity by the effect of induction between conducting plates separated by a nonconducting plate.
