General Information

A place or location is a point or part of space and surface, recorded by comparison to other places and locations. In its broadest astronomical sense, a place can be a galaxy, solar system, star or planet. In a more specific and smaller-scale sense, a place can be a region, continent, country or locality anywhere in the world. Often these are identified by ZIP codes or postal codes.

Countries

A country is a geographical area with its own government and laws which is politically independent from other countries. Most countries have police to enforce laws, military to defend the country and tax to cover government costs. International standards exist by which an area may be classed as a country

Countries may be either nation states or groups of nations within a single country territory. Nation states may be countries like France that are single nations or federal states such as the United States of America that are groups of states that together form a single nation. By contrast, some countries consist of several different nations
