DNA

DNA is an abbreviation of DeoxyriboNucleic Acid.
It is the genetic 'blueprint' of all life on this planet.
DNA typing is often applied to Human Identification which has also been called DNA Fingerprinting.

DNA Fingerprinting has been attributed to Alex Jeffries, who with his colleagues in 1985, discovered a sequence of nucleotides, subsequently termed short tandem repeats (STR) when comparing the DNA sequence of the human α-globin chromosomes isolated from different individuals.

cDNA

Abbreviation for complementary deoxyribonucleic acid.
cDNA has been copied directly from mRNA, the reverse of transcription.
It differs from genomic DNA in the nucleus, since it does not contain the introns, or sequences upstream or downstream of the corresponding genes.

cDNA libraries consist of samples from individual tissues, and will only contain the sequences transcribed in that tissue.
