Lysosomes

Lysosomes are vesicular organelles with hydrolytic enzymes that function in digestion. Primary lysosomes contain inactive enzymes, while secondary lysosomes have begun the digestion process. Cytochemical staining may be necessary to detect lysosomes and to distinguish the two forms.
