There are three types of filaments: microtubules, intermediate filaments, and microfilaments. The microtubules (~25 nm diameter) are the largest of the three and function in cell motility, structure, mitosis, etc. The intermediate filaments are approximately 10 nm in diameter. The microfilaments are the smallest with approximately 5 nm in diameter.
