Otherwise known as The Great Dog, Canis Major consists of about 13 stars, most notable being Sirius A, which is the brightest star in the sky, besides the Sun. It is found near Puppis and Orion, and can be seen from some parts of the Northern Hemisphere.

Sirius A is the second brightest object in the sky. It as an Apparent magnitude of -1.4, and an Absolute magnitude of 1.4. It is a White main sequence star, located 8.6 light years away.
Its twin, Sirius B, is less bright, and a white dwarf. They appear as one star to the naked eye.
