Little Wanganui is a small coastal settlement just south of Karamea and Oporara. The Wangapeka Track, a 52km tramping course, travels through the Little Wanganui valley of beech trees, while leads east to the Kahurangi National Park. Further east is Mounts Allen, Kendall and Patriarch. To the south is the Mokihinui Forest.
