Wainuiomata is a township close to Hutt City that services visitors to Rimutaka Forest Park. Coast Road extends to the Turakirae Head, home to a large population of seals and from Coast Road another road leads to Fitzroy Bay and the Baring Head lighthouse.
The large local outdoor swimming pools are popular among both locals and visitors, offering a 70 metre waterslide through the forest. Other local attractions inldue the Wainuiomata Historial Museum and the local links golf course.
