Description

Huntly is named after the Scottish childhood home of a landowner named Alexander Henry. The town is famous for its white and red chimneys that rise from the largest coal power station in New Zealand. There are seven lakes in the area.

Attractions

Local attractions include the Waikato Coalfields Museum, the Te Tumu (a tree at Waahi Marae) and the Hakarimata Walkway that features various kauri trees.
