An Enchanting Tree Collecting

[ history ]

Overview

Over three decades ago John and Bunny Mortimer formed a collection of unseen and unusual trees and gifted the garden to the community. Just 3km from the western Hamilton suburb of Dinsdale, the 20-acre Taitua Aboretum, which is managed by Hamilton City Council, can be viwed by a set of paths and bridges.

The 1500 species from across the world change constantly with each season. The rural setting is also home to tuis, fantails, ducks, pheasants and cows.
