This 19th century farm estate has wide lawns shaded by oak trees and surrounded by gardens. The estate is spotted with 13 buildings offering displays of the early European settler era and the Firth Tower offers amazing views. The on-site Heritage Centre is home to the district archives.
The Tower Church and lecture room make the estate ideal for events such as weddings, funerals and Christenings, but it is also a very popular destination for tourists. The gardens and museum are open between 10am and 4pm and managed by Matamata-Piako District Council and Matamata Historical Society.
