Attractions

Although not a major tourist destination, the city is home to riverside attractions such as Hamilton Gardens, the Waikato Museum, Sky Riverside casino and entertainment complex and the Waipa Delta ferry, linked by a growing series of river walkways that wind peacefully alongside the river. A short drive from the city is the Hamilton Zoo, also a popular local attraction.

Farming

The National Agricultural Fieldays and the Ruakura Agricultural Research Centre represent the city's importance to the surrounding dairy farming area and the local 'Mooloo' cow district mascot represents this importance.
