Manaia is situated to the south of Egmont National Park on State Highway 45. To it's north is a vast area of small dairy-farming communities based around rivers stemming from Mount Taranaki. These include the communities of Mangawhero, Kapuni, Okaiawa and Riverlea. The town is also home to an internationally-recognised bakery, a war memorial and a petrochemical industry.
