Description

Wyndham was named after General Windham, who was part of the unsuccessful assault of Redan in the Crimean War, and many other references can be found in local street names. The area's economy relies upon both dairy and sheep farming and local forestry venture. It is known around the world for clay-shooting. Like the nearby Edendale, Wyndham provides visitors with fishing and local gardens.

The Mäori name for Wyndham is Mokerei which translates to either clear or sweet water.
