Henderson Bay is an area of coastline between Henderson Point and Grenville Point that faces out upon the Simmonds Islands and the Pacific Ocean. To the north is Great Exhibition Bay, to the west is Houhora Harbour and to the south is Mount Camel, Kowhai Beach and Houhora Bay. The beach is known for its pink sand - a mixture of shell and white silica sand, which squeaks when walked on.
The only Public access to the beach is over Henderson Point at the Northern end of the beach, via a 5km gravel road which turns off SH1F (the Cape Reinga road)about 10km north of the Pukenui wharf.
Henderson Bay is popular for surfing and is known as 'Hendos' by the locals. The small village of Henderson Bay has no shops and spreads up the hillside from Henderson Point, following Henderson Bay Road.
