Description

Mount Ruapehu is the highest mountain in New Zealand and is a popular destination for skiiing. In 1995 and 1996 the mountain erupted and the Crater Lake has not refilled. Whakapapa Skifield on the northern side is the largest skifield in New Zealand, while Turoa Skifield is located to the south-west and Tukino Skifield is located near the peak on the south-eastern side.
