Overview

Cape Kidnappers is the southern point of Hawke Bay and is world famous for the ganet colony, which is one of the only two in the world that can be accessed from the mainland.

Tractors pull trailers of visitors along the beach between mid-Spring to mid-Autumn to the colony, but it can also be accessed by walking or Four Wheel Drive vehicles. The steep cliff are an amazing sight, but falling rocks are a real danger, as are high tides.

Cape Kidnappers gained its name from the Tahitian servant who was kidnapped from the Endeavour.
