Climate

The Bay of Plenty, especially Whakatane in the east, is known for its sunny weather. This is reflected by an average of 2260 hours of sunshine per year. There is about 1198mm of rainfall in a typical year. During the warmest months the temperature averages 23°C, while the region's reasonably warm winters average a 14.7°C daily high.
