Mangere is a suburb of the multi-cultural city of Manukau. The Mangere Mountain, once a fortified Mäori pä, looks out on Mangere and the Manukau Harbour. Of historical note are the many churches, marae and geological landmarks of the Otuatau Stonefields. The Mangere Town Centre markets itself as "a rainbow of cultures" and this is demonstrated by the weekly Saturday morning markets offering multicultural shows in the early afternoon.
With proximity to the Auckland International Airport, Mangere accomadation, restaurants, local golf course and vineyard try to appeal to tourists.
