North American artists dominate music sales and radio airtime in New Zealand, although some British and Australian artists are also successful. Recently, through extensive marketing, the annual New Zealand Music Month during May, government funding and support from most radio stations, many New Zealand artists have experienced increased exposure, improved record sales and increased radio airtime. Hip-hop and rap styles are also experiencing significant recent success.
