Temperature: Mean High 28C, Mean Low 22C.

Hottest Day on Record: 53.1C (16 January 1889, Cloncurry)
This was challenged as a technical error in January 2004. The next hottest day on record is Birdsville with 49.5C on Christmas Eve 1972.

Coldest Day on Record: -11.0 C (4 July 1895, Stanthorpe)

Rainfall in south east corner: Average Monthly 75mm.
Highest Annual Rainfall: 11,251 mm (1979)

Queensland's environment with floods and cyclones were hazardous for both the indigenous and early settlers.

Snowfalls

Queensland does have snow but only rarely and in very isolated pockets. The Granite Belt around Stanthorpe is the coldest area of Queensland and recorded the lowest temperature of -11.0C on July 4 1895. If snow is going to fall it occurs usually in the region.
