History

Stafford
The suburb of Stafford (once known as Happy Valley) was first settled in 1857. The early industries of timber getting, brick making, dairying and farming eventually grew industries of tanning, fellmongering and slaughtering.

In more modern days, Stafford became the northern terminus for the Brisbane tram system which is no longer in place. After World War II, the area became increasingly urban as rural industries were replced by shopping facilities and public housing.
