Carson City

Carson City is Nevada's state and territorial capital. It was founded in 1858, seven years after the first settlement, which was established in 1851 and was known as the Eagle Station trading post. The city is named for the famous frontiersman and scout Christopher "Kit" Carson. Carson City became the territorial capital in 1861 and the state capital in 1864.

The city is a part of the Carson City metro area. It is the the seat of Carson City county. It has an area of 143.4 square miles.
