Overview

Canada is the second largest country in the world; Russia, whose area is 17 075 000 square kilometres, is the only larger country. However, Canada almost certainly has the largest surface area of freshwater of any country. The land plus freshwater area of Canada is 9 984 670 square kilometres.

Its southern border is shared with the United States of America, and is 8891 kilometres long, making it the longest undefended border in the world. The two countries cooperate fairly well, compared with the past.

The biggest cities include Toronto, Ontario, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Montreal, Quebec. The capital city is Ottawa, Ontario.
