The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM), Centre of Aerology has recently established a set of three SL501 meters: one each in northern, central and southern Poland. These are run by Zenobia Litynska, who welcomes professional contact and discussion. The three stations are standard meteorological stations with global solar irradiation measurements with Kipp & Zonen pyranometers. Ozone soundings have also been performed at the Legionowo site since 1979. The data are available from the Center of Aerology. These three instruments are also part of the Joint Research Network of UV-B along with the following institutions:
Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece
Division for Upper-Air Observations Hungarian Meteorological Service, Hungary
Icelandic Meteorological Office, Iceland
The Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences currently has three UV monitoring instruments in operation, two RB501s and one Brewer. All three instruments are located at the Geophysical Observatory at Belsk. The Brewer began operation in February of 1991. The old RB meter began running in May of 1975, and the new RB-501 started continuous operation in May of 1993. The old RB meter stoped its operation at the end of 1995. Another RB-501 began runing in November 1995. Total ozone measurements are also performed at the observatory of the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Belsk. Dr. Sylwester Puchalski is in charge of the RB and RB-501 meters while M. Sc. Janusz Jaroslawski works with the Brewer instrument.
