Overview

The Isle of Man lies in the middle of the Irish sea, surrounded by England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It is just a short distance away by air or by sea.

Part of the Norwegian Kingdom of the Hebrides until the 13th century when it was ceded to Scotland, the island came under the British crown in 1765. Current concerns include reviving the almost extinct Manx Celtic language.
