[ history ]

Höfn is a tiny town situated on the southeastern side of the country located in a fiord named Hornafjörður, the town is built up around a natural harbour, indeed the name Höfn translates to harbour and as there are more small towns that have the same name it´s generally referred to as "Höfn in Hornafirði" to diffrencite from the others. The town and the surrounding area are know to have the best weather conditions in the country and typically recodrs the highest avarage temperature, this is due to it´s southerly location and paradoxically to the closeness of Europes largest glacier Vatnajökull, but it acts as a sort of a buffer on the surrounding area.
