Electronic Music got a relatively late start in Iceland, first experiments started out in the late 60's using commercially manufactured equipment, electro-acoustic labs were founded in a couple of educational institutions in the late 70´s but it was not until the early 80´s and the introduction of industrial music that things started happening. Amongst the local pioneers of industrial were Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson.
