Transportation

Transportation in Sri Lanka depends heavily on busses and railways. The railway system is owned and operated by the government. Good national highways connect major cities. But the poor quality of most of Sri Lanka's other roads makes long-distance travel by road difficult in some areas. Most Sri Lankan people travel by buses. Many people in the cities own cars. The government owns and operates two major airlines, and there are some private airlines. SriLankan airlines provide international service to many countries.
