Description

Travel is the movement of a person between different locations. Long-distance travel is usually undertaken for recreation. However, it can also be undertaken for other reasons, such as business, politics, religion or in the form of migration in search for a new place to live.

Tourism, or travelling for recreational purposes, is a hugely profitable industry of business and is the main business industry in many economies around the world. It is usually defined as travelling away from one's home temporarily, but the term does not cover a specific period of time.

In economic terms, travel is non-essential activity undertaken when consumers have enough of the limited economic means of time and money. Therefore, to travel one requires sufficient disposable income remaining after purchasing essential items as well as time away from work.
